Races 7+8, Brands Hatch - A disastrous weekend

August 17, 2003

(London, England) ヨ American Emmanuel Crouvisier visited Brands Hatch for the first time this weekend, and despite his excitement to compete at the world-famous venue, nothing seemed to go as planned! After several top 5 finishes throughout the season, Crouvisier was eager to continue his climb up the championship standings, but everything seemed to work against him throughout the weekend ヨ qualifying times disallowed, red-flagged practice sessions and chaotic races all added up to the worse weekend in Crouvisierメs career.

Right from the start of the weekend, everything seemed to go wrong. While there are normally two thirty minute sessions on the Friday preceding the race weekend, only five laps were actually completed during the entire time, as numerous cars fell victim to the guard rails lining the entire length of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. The result meant that Crouvisier would once again fall well behind his competitors due to a lack of track knowledge, having never turned a wheel at the circuit which the majority of the Formula Palmer Audi racers call their home track!

The problems continued into qualifying, when Crouvisierメs fastest times were controversially disallowed after the session. The reason for the disqualification was that the laps were timed while there was a yellow flag out on the course, even though the crashed car was far off the circuit and in a safe location. The end result was the most dismal qualifying result of the season, 14th and 11th for the two races.

With so little time under his belt, Crouvisier did his best throughout the races, and was able to move up several positions, finishing 12th and 9th respectively, his first time outside the top 10 since the first event of the season.

Fortunately, the next venue is at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, a track which very few of the regular drivers will know, and should prove to be the perfect place for Crouvisierメs talents to shine!
